This past month, Canberra’s trail running community came together at the Frith Road Substation in O’Connor for an action-packed night of testing, learning, and connecting. The Mont Trail Running Shoe Demo gave runners of all levels the chance to put the latest footwear from La Sportiva, On Running, Altra, and Hoka through their paces on a dedicated 1.2km trail loop that quickly became a Strava segment.
Nothing beats trying before you buy—especially when it comes to trail running shoes. Participants had the unique opportunity to test multiple models in real conditions, gaining a true feel for fit, grip, and responsiveness. Mont’s expert team and brand representatives were on hand to provide tailored advice, ensuring each runner found the right shoe for their needs and running style.

It wasn’t just about footwear. Attendees also got to experience high-performance eyewear from Julbo, designed for clarity and protection in varying light conditions. Plus, Pure kept everyone fuelled with hydration and nutrition products that support endurance and recovery.
Beyond the gear, the event highlighted the strength of Canberra’s trail running community. Runners swapped tips, shared experiences, and encouraged one another—whether they were seasoned ultramarathoners or first-time trail explorers. The buzz of excitement, combined with the perfect autumn running conditions, made for an unforgettable afternoon running on the trails.
