Thanks to you over 150,000 Trees Were Planted in 2021

Last year we set a target of 100,000 trees. Thanks to Mont customers all over Australia, New Zealand and the World, just over 150,000 trees were planted! Partnering with Eden Reforestation Projects, funds were efficiently directed to areas of poverty and deforestation creating jobs and revitalising forests that once existed.

Most of our (yours as well) trees were planted in the Uyuca Biological Reserve in Honduras, a protected area that suffers from illegal logging and cattle ranching, beetle infestations exacerbated by drought, human-caused fires and urban expansion.

Reforesting these areas created employment for some of the 34% of local residents who suffer from malnutrition, some of the 60% of locals without access to clean water, and some of the 39% of locals without access to basic sanitation.

The Uyuca Biological Reserve is home to many endangered and endemic species and protects several watersheds essential to the local townships.

In 2022, with your help, we’re aiming for at least another 150,000 trees.

We chose Eden Reforestation Projects because of their leading seedling survival rate of over 80%, because they plant trees native to the area they're planting in, and because they offer stable employment to villagers local to the planting areas.

Eden Reforestation Projects is a non-profit organisation, on a mission to restore healthy forests to deforested areas, alleviate suffering, employ and empower people living in poverty, and build sustainable local economies in impoverished areas.

Over the past 15 years, Eden Reforestation Projects have planted over 330 million trees around the world and employed thousands of impoverished villagers.

Planting trees is one of the ways Mont is moving towards a climate-neutral status for our business, our gear and our customer's orders.

Hi Thomas,
Great to hear about the planting you’ve been doing on your property. Our tree planting partner, Eden Reforestation Projects, employs a number of planting methods suited to the seedlings and conditions at each planting site. While some mortality is inevitable, the seedling survival rate across Eden Reforestation Projects is over 80% and in some of their sites, they have measured a 150% success rate of established trees to seeds planted. This is a result of natural regeneration occurring following restoration and planting work occurring, multiplying the effect of the initial project.
If you’re interested further, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Kind Regards,
Nick

Everybody talks about trees planted, right! I continue to plant out trees on my property, just completed planting 38 rainforest trees – 3 full days, digging holes, mixing up native soil mix and tucking them into bed. I expect 100% grow on rate but realistically I have ~ 5% fail rate/ that’s with all the love and attention.
So tell us all what’s the success rate or is it just dig a hole and forget them.????

For a long time I have hoped I would one day (night) be able to catch a good display of the southern lights, the aurora australis, with one of Mont’s superb wilderness tents included in the view.
