The Petzl ASAP Lock is a mobile fall arrestor, and come integrates with an ASAP'sorber energy absorbing lanyard. The ASAP Lock is used extensively in rope access as a go to fall arrest or backup device. The ASAP Lock tows easily, allows descent without user manipulation on a twin rope system, and has a locking function for immobilising the device on the rope. The Petzl ASAP Lock works on both vertical and angled ropes, and unlike other devices, still locks when grabbed during a fall. This locking version allows the user to immobilize the device in order to reduce the length of a fall. It can also be helpful in high winds to prevent ropes blowing upwards.
The Petzl ASAP Lock is available with a 20cm ASAP'sorber, 40cm ASAP'sorber, or L57 Absorbica energy absorbing lanyard - this is the 40cm ASAP'sorber variation.
